- Gain basic kayaking skills and develop skills in self rescue and water safety knowledge.
- Have fun and make acquantance with others taking up kayaking.
- Canoe Ireland Certificate issued on completion.
- The course prepares you to join KACC and partake in the club activities as a full member.
- KACC ofers a pathway to progress your kayaking.
- If you join KACC after the course you have access to boats and equipment and activities.
- Course will run on 4 consecutive Wednesdays
- Location, KACC Canoe Club, Canal Walk, Kilkenny,
- We encourage cycling and walking but there is usually parking in the club premises but if you see a space in the car park outside the club, take it!
- We have changing rooms, hot shower and toilets on site and a kettle if you’re rushing from work.
- Course run on behalf of KACC by KACC instructors and helpers
- Arrive at KACC at 5.30 pm, register and get wetsuits
- First evening will take longer to chose the best boat for you and introduce you to kayaking on land.
- Get on the water and spend up to 2 hours kayaking.
- On the fourth night we wil do a short river trip and paddle over some easy weirs!
- Off the water time will be around 8pm.
Gear to wear:
- If you have your own wetsuit or dry suit thats great, otherwise we will have one for you.
- You must wear something to protect your feet. Wetsuit bootees or runners/river shoes. If you own waterproof socks, they are a dream under runners/river shoes. Wetsuit bootees increase comfort levels immensely.
- If you feel you will kayak again and are going to equip yourself, buy neoprene bootees with soles and recommended wetsuit is one without arms, called Long John and all available in Padmore & Barnes and reasonably priced but there are many sources.
KACC will provide:
- A Cag/over jacket
- Boat, paddle, buoyancy aid and helmet
- Lots of support and fun and share our lifetime love of paddling.
Wetsuits will be provided
5.30 pm at KACC premises
If you cancel more than 48 hours before your course we will refund your booking fee.
However if your cancellation takes place less than 48 hours before your scheduled paddle, we are more than happy to reschedule your paddling course for another day.
